FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Barbara Pierce Submitted: June 1999 ========================================================================= 1871 - The first settler in the township was August Schendel, Section 30, bringing his family in 1873. 1873 (May) - First recorded birth in the township was Robert Seeger. 1874 - First recorded death in the township was Birdie Brown. 1874 - The first real estate assessment, David Culver, Section 22. 1876 - The first personal property assessment was made. 1876 (March) - Troy Township was organized. It was originally a part of Beaver Falls. 1876 (April) - The first township election was held, Section 14, at the home of Ira Everson. Elected officers: Supervisors, Henry Knauf - Chairman, Ira Everson and August Schendel, Clerk - J. L. White, Treasurer - T. H. Risinger, Assessor - Charles Waldo, and a constable. 1877 - First school was taught by Maggie Ericson. 1878 - First recorded marriage was Millard White and Della Miller. 1881 - The first religious meeting was held by an Evangelical Society. They built a church the same year in Section 18. 1884-1886 - There were five school districts in the township located in Sections 8, 2, 29, 26 and 27. 1900 - Land values in this area was $20.00 per acre. 1903 - A township law was passed stating that livestock had to be locked up during the daytime from April to September. This was due to no fences. 1903-1904 - The township started building roads. 1938 - The Troy Troopers were officially organized.
