On Wednesday morning of last week word was received here that O. H. Howe had passed away at Minneapolis. Few here knew he had been ill, although some of his close friends knew he had been in failing health for some time. Ora H. Howe was born on December 3rd, 1857 at Danville Green, Vermont and died at Eitel Hospital, Minneapolis, February 1st, 1921 of pneumonia, after a lingering illness. The earlier years of Mr. Howe's life was spent in Illinois, coming to Renville in April, 1887. In April 1887 he was married to Jessie C. McLean of Woodstock, Ill., and to this union six children were born. A daughter Hazel died June 1st, 1899. Surviving are his widow and five children, Mrs. Mable White of Marshall, Minn., Mrs. Genevieve Maas, Mrs. Bernice Smith both of Minneapolis, Mrs. Clarice Salisbury, Westport, Wash., Donald O. Howe of San Francisco, Cal. In 1902 the deceased moved with his family to Minneapolis where they have since resided. Mr. Howe was a building contractor and one of his greatest activities while here was in helping to build up our city. He built some of the best residences and also built the south wing to the school house we lost by fire last year. He also built and operated the creamery here for some time. He was a booster for Renville at all times. The remains were brought here for burial and the funeral was held from the E. M. Church Friday forenoon under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of which he was a member. Rev. E. W. Day delivered the sermon. The pallbearers were W. D. Spaulding, J. H. Dale, Tim O' Connor, John Walser, R. Blacklock and W. A. Reid. Those in attendance from abroad were Mrs. O. H. Howe, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Maas, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Smith, all of Minneapolis, Mrs. Mable White, Marshall, Miss Margaret McBroom of Princeton, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Walter McLean of Elgin, Ill., Mr. E. W. HOWE who lived in Renville, Renville Co., MN in 1887-1902. He was a building contractor and even built the south wing to the school house that was lost to a fire in 1920. He also built and operated the creamery in Renville. He moved to Minneapolis, but was buried in the Fairview Cem. in Renville. Amy
