Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Ted Mudge The following obituary appeared in the Sacred Heart News, 9 Nov. 1922: Peter Fagerlie, one of Hawk Creek’s oldest and most respected farmer and early pioneer passed away at his home on Monday morning at 8:30 o’clock. The members of the family, realizing that he had a short time in which to live, were at his bedside when the end came. He had been sick for some time. He was born in Norway June 20, 1845 and came to America and to Blue Earth County, Minnesota in 1872. In 1875 he came to Renville County and in 1881 he moved onto the farm in Section 22, Hawk Creek Township, where the family new resides. He was married in 1882 to Ingeborg Lien and to them eight children were born, all living except Anne, who died a few years ago. He is survived by his wife and daughters: Mrs. H. Eliason, Mrs. Anfin Deason, Mrs. Melvin Sagness, Mrs. L. Pilotte, Mrs. J. Jorgenson, Rock Lake, N.D. and Mrs. Helge Haukaas and son: Olof P. Fagerlie. Funeral services will be held at the home in Hawk Creek on Friday at 1 o’clock p.m. and at the Synod Church at 2:30 p.m. Rev Giere will officiate. The deceased was a kind and loving husband and father and was well thought of amongst his neighbors and in this community. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the community in the loss of one so dear to them.
