FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Heather Shepard Submitted: April 2003 ========================================================================= OBITUARY OF MATTHEW HARMER MATTHEW HARMER "At the home of his son, Albert Harmer, in this village, Tuesday afternoon, May 11, 1897, of rheumatism and enlargement of the heart, Matthew Harmer, aged 86 years, 4 months and 16 days. Mr. Harmer was born in England in 1810, where he was married. In 1849 with his wife and 10 children, he came to this country and settled in Wisconsin where 7 more children were born. Later he came to this county and settled near Claremont where he has since lived. He leaves a wife, 14 children; 65 grand-children and 38 great-grand-children to mourn his death. The last meeting of this family occurred last Christmas, when they met to celebrate his 86th birthday and also his 65th wedding anniversary, when his 14 children, with their families to the number of 64 ate dinner with him. The funeral services will be held in the M.E. Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock and the remains laid at rest in Riverside cemetery." Dodge County Star Thursday, May 13, 1897, page 1
