HARMER ON TUESDAY "Mrs. Herbert Harmer, for many years a resident of the Waterford vicinity died at the home of her son, Herbert F. Harmer of St. Paul Sunday evening following an illness extending over a period of six months. Mrs. Harmer had made her home on the farm home in Waterford until Christmas time when she went to St. Paul to visit with her son. While there she became ill, and had not been able to return to her home. The funeral services were held at the Harmer home in St. Paul Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Mr. Pinkerton conducting the services. The remains were taken to Dodge Center where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Thompson. Burial was made in Dodge Center. Five sons of Mrs. Harmer and her brother were the pallbearers. Elizabeth Swan was born July 1, 1855 in Stillwater, N.J. When a young woman she came with her parents to Kasson where she was married to Herbert Harmer on Feb. 4, 1873. The young couple made their home at Dodge Center until 1905, when they moved to the farm home northeast of Northfield which continued to be her home. Mr. Harmer died three years ago last November and was also buried at Dodge Center. Mrs. Harmer is survived by five sons, Herbert F., Earl J., of St. Paul; Richard P., Leader; Paul M., East Lansing Mich.; and Clifford of Lakeville; two daughters, Mrs. Charles L. Cowell and Mrs. John D. Noreen of Northfield; also one brother, D.J. Swan and one sister, Mrs. W. D. Bell." (ERRORS: Elizabeth's maiden name is SWAM and not Swan, which also applies to her brother who is D.J. SWAM and not Swan. Also, she was married in 1874 and not 1873, and one of her sons is Richard D. Harmer instead of Richard P. Harmer.) Thomson conducting the burial service. The Harmers were early residents of Dodge Center and Claremont Township, but of late lived in St. Paul."
