Mr. Harmer had undergone an operation a week ago. Funeral services will be conducted at Santa Anna on Monday, Feb. 22. Mr. Harmer is survived by his widow, Mrs. Harmer, two daughters, Mrs. C. W. Lee of Northfield, and Mrs. Charles Sutherlund of Eugene, Ore., and three sons, Hosea Harmer of Mankato, Roy Harmer of Plum City, Wis., and Burton Harmer of Balboa, Cal." (Source: Northfield News, 2/20/32 1:4) ANOTHER OBITUARY FOR RICHARD HARMER Northfield News, February 22, 1932 HARMER RITES ARE HELD TODAY, SANTA ANA "Funeral services were held today at Santa Ana, Calif., for Richard Harmer, for many years a respected citizen of Northfield whose death occurred at Santa Ana Friday. Mr. Harmer had undergone an operation for cancer on February 12. Before the operation he had been seriously ill at his home for two weeks. Richard Harmer was born in Wisconsin March 1859. With his parents he moved to Dodge County where they made their home for many years. On New Year's Day 1879 he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Gertrude Quimby. They made their home in the Dodge County communities for many years and thirty-three years ago moved to the Northfield community where they made their home on a farm northwest of Northfield. After six years on the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Harmer moved to Northfield where they made their home for many years. Eleven years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Harmer left to make their home at Santa Ana, Calif. Two years since that time they lived in Mankato with a son, later returning to their California home. Last summer Mr. and Mrs. Harmer visited with their daughter and son-in-law Dr. and Mrs. C. W. Lee in Northfield. Besides Mrs. Harmer, Mr. Harmer is survived by five children, Mrs. C. W. Lee in Northfield, Mrs. Charles Sutherland at Eugene, Ore., Hosea Harmer, of Mankato; Roy H. Harmer, Plum City, Wis., and Burton Harmer, Balboa, Calif. There are also 14 grandchildren." (Source: Northfield News, 2/22/32 3:3)
