Funeral services were conducted Monday at Mr. Idso's former home at Paullina, Iowa, with the Rev. A. M. Heggre officiating. Burial was made in Prairie View cemetery. Olaus Idso, son of Olen Olson and Amborn Larson, was born January 21, 1860, at Stavanger, Norway. As a young man of 21 years he came to the United States, having been a sailor for nine years before that. He settled for a year in Marshall county, later moving to Paullina, Iowa, where he engaged in farming until he moved to Northfield in 1920 so his children might have the advantages of an education at St. Olaf College. Mr. Idso was married Nov. 24, 1883, at Marshalltown, Iowa, to Miss Gabrielle Lura, who preceded him in death. During his residence here, Mr. Idso has been a devout member of St. John's Lutheran church. Mr. Idso is survived by four sons, Alfred of Charles City Iowa; Oscar, Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Otter, Fullerton, Calif.; Chester, Paullina, Iowa, and five daughters, Mrs. Vernon Floyd (Gertrude), Kenyon; Mrs. Orpha Johnson, with whom he made his home in Northfield; Mrs. Daniel Nelson, (Esther), Hartford, Conn.; Mrs. Arthur Ellingson (Palma) of Roswell, New Mexico; and Mrs. William Taylor (Milda) of Spokane, Wash., also one brother, Albert Larson of Paullina, Iowa."
