Born Jan. 20, 1921, in Rock County, he was the son of Walter and Elizabeth "Agnes" Hemme Ahrendt. He married Louise Jessen June 9, 1943, at her parents' home near Hardwick. She died in April 1990. He married Lois Meyer Feb. 14, 1992, at First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. After marriage, they lived and worked on the Ahrendt family farm. He retired in 1987, but they continued to live on the farm. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hardwick, where he had served as an elder , trustee and usher and on various committees, and current member of First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. He had served on the ASCS board and was a member of Thrivent. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Ruth Ann Ahrendt, Brooklyn Park, and Loretta (John) Teune, Pine River; three sons, Ken (Pauline) Ahrendt, Walter (Anna) Ahrendt and David Ahrendt, all of Luverne; seven stepchildren, Steven Meyer, Hastings, Nancy (Marc) Cooper, Springfield, MO; Bill (Fiona) Meyer, Tivoli, NY; Kathy (Alan) McArthur, Anchorage, AK, Sandi (John) Hagen, Roach, MO;LeAnn Beaty, Springfield, MO; and Robert (Kim) Meyer; Des Moines, WA; 12 grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hartquist Funeral Home, Engebretson Chapel, Luverne. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Luverne, with the Rev.
