Born March 9, 1926, in Allison Township, Lyon County, Iowa, he was the son of Herman and Christina Smith Beyenhof. He married June Van Malsen on Oct. 3, 1944, at the church parsonage in Steen. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. After his education, he continued to help on the family farm. After marriage, they lived and farmed in Lyon County. Two years later, they moved to and continued to farm in Clinton Township, Rock County, until his retirement in the mid-1990s. He was a member of Steen Reformed Church, where he was part of the church building committee. He helped establish the Rock County Rural Water Board, on which he served for six years. Surviving are his wife; seven children, Bonita Robinson, Minneapolis, Herman Beyenhof, Huron, S.D., Robert (Susan) Beyenhof, Luverne, Wayne (Rita) Beyenhof, Luverne, Debra Olson, Brandon, S.D., Jodeen (Harley) Fransman, Beaver Creek, and Tamara (Jeremy) Josephson, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one brother, Clarence (Linda) Beyenhof, Benedict; one sister, Hendrene Leenderts, Hills; 16 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reformed Church of Steen. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Reformed Church of Steen. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery, rural Steen.
