From the Rock County Star Herald, Luverne Minn. Funeral held tuesday For Mrs. Lafrenz Funeral services were held tuesday for Mrs. Bertha Lafrenz, 83, Luverne, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. Mrs. Lafrenz died Saturday at the Mary Jane Brown Home after being sick for two years. The Rev. John Klemp officiated the service and burial was in the Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Rolfs, Dwight Lafrenz, Rex Bell, James Lafrenz, Darwin Lafrenz and Duane Lafrenz. Engebretson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Born Bertha A. Voss at Todendorf, Germany (Fehmarn Island) July 9, 1886, she married Fritz Lafrenz in Germany Aug. 10, 1904. They came to America in 1912 and to Rock County in 1919. In 1912 they moved to Davenport, Iowa from Germany and moved to Rock County and lived in this area for the fifty years. She attended school in Germany. Survivors include five children, Hans Lafrenz, Mrs. Ann Rolfs, Mrs. Harley (Marie) Bell, all of Luverne, and Rudolf Lafrenz of Sioux Falls, sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great- grand children. Mrs. Lafrenz was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1940 two children, Neko Lafrenz and one infant child, five sisters, and two brothers. Mrs. Lafrenz, a homemaker, was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Hardwick.
