FARMER DIED HERE TUESDAY MORNING Wm. H. Ralfs, of Near Trosky, Passed Away. ------- Funeral to be This Afternoon ------------------------------------------------------------------------ William H. Ralfs, prominent farmer of the vicinity of Trosky, died at the Ashton Memorial Hospital tuesday morning ; Mr. Ralfs had been in poor health for about five weeks and had been at the hospital but one day when his death occurred from heart trouble. Funeral services will be held at the home near Trosky at one thirty o'clock, on Friday afternoon and at the Trosky Methodist Church at two o'clock conducted by Rev. Everett Hall of Pipestone. The burial will be in the Trosky cemetery . William H. Ralfs was born on Sept. 12, 1870 in Germany. He came to the United States when he was about a year and a half old and settled with his parents in Tama County, Iowa. He was married on September 17, 1897, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and he and his bride located once at Paulina, Iowa. In 1903 they moved to Pipestone County, locating near Trosky and have since made their home there. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Mrs. Hilda Kamrath, Sherburn Minn. ; Mrs. Mamie Burmeister, Canby Minn ; George Ralfs, Trosky, Miss Elsie Ralfs ; Mrs. Grace Kickland, Jasper, Minn. ; Mrs. Stella Barck, St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Laura Oye of Pipestone, Minn. One Daughter Viola died in infancy. Two brothers, Herman who lives in Alaska and Theodore of St. Paul and two sisters, Mrs. Hans J. Hansen, and Mrs. Johanna Knoop both of Traer, Iowa, and eleven grandchildren also survive. ----------------------------------------------------- On April 4, 2001, I, Claire Marie Grant, Found this obituary at the Pipestone Museum. From The Pipestone Leader Dated March 17, 1932 Page1,Col.1 Par. 2: WILLIAM H. RALFS The death of Wm. Ralfs, of Trosky, occured at the Ashton Memorial Hospital Tuesday, about noon. He had been ill for five weeks with heart trouble, but had been a patient at the hospital for only a few days. Funeral Services will be held tomorrow afternoon in Trosky at 1:30 o'clock at the home, and 2:00 o'clock at the M. E. Church, Rev. Everett Hall of this city conducting the services. Deceased was born in Germany, September 12, 1870, and came to America when one and a half years old settling with his parents in Tama County, Iowa. He later resided in Paullina, Iowa, and moved to Trosky, in 1903. Besides the widow he is survived by seven children and eleven grandchildren. From the Pipestone County Star Dated March 22, 1932 Page 8, Col.3, Par.4. BURIAL AT TROSKY FRIDAY Funeral services for William H. Ralfs were held on Friday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the home and two o'clock at the Methodist church at Trosky, conducted by Rev. Everett Hall of this city. The burial was in the Trosky cemetery, the following members of the Trosky Odd Fellows Lodge acting as pall bearers: R. Faulkner, H. A. Griffin, Herman Arp, William Grimnitz, Robert Butts and Tom Feltner. The late Mr. Ralfs was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Trosky. Relatives here from a distance were all the children and families, also Emil Hanson and Emil Knoop both of Traer, Iowa. ----------------------------------------------------------------- CARD OF THANKS We wish to Express our appreciation and sincere thanks for the kindness and sympathy shown us by the Odd Fellows, to the choir for their songs, for the many floral offerings and especially to our neighbors and friends for their acts and deeds at the time of the death and funeral of our beloved husband and father.
