Born Aug. 26, 1923, on a farm near Sioux Center, Iowa, she was the daughter of Gerrit and Fredricka Roelofs Niezink. She married Henry Vis Jan. 4, 1946, at his parents’ home in Hull, Iowa. He died in 1989. She attended country school through eighth grade. After marriage, they lived on a farm near Hull until 1951, when they moved to a farm near Sioux Center. She worked alongside her husband on the farm and was a homemaker. In 1955, the family moved to a farm near Orange City, Iowa, and in 1964 to a farm near Beaver Creek. She continued to work with her husband caring for the calves in their dairy barn. She moved to Luverne after his death. In August 2005, she became a resident of Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home, Luverne. Surviving are six children, Marge Nibbelink, Luverne, Glenda (Harold) Mellema, Reading, Evie Pap, Luverne, Frieda (Rod) Fransman, Luverne, John Vis, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Steven (Kayla) Vis, Beaver Creek; one brother, Bernard (Marg) Niezink, Hudsonville, Mich.; one sister, Geraldine (Richard) Oostra, Sioux Center; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Christian Reformed Church, Luverne. Burial will be in Christian Reformed Cemetery, Hills.
