Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske --------------------------------------------------------------------- Arlington Enterprise Thursday 31 December 1913 TWO AGED PIONEERS GONE GOTTWALD BACHMANN Last Friday morning, Dec. 25th occurred the death of one of our oldest settlers, Gottwald Bachmann, age 71 years. The deceased was born July 3rd, 1832 at Hirschfield, Saxony, Germany and came to this country in 1853, when he came to live at Cleveland, Ohio. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Caroline Krauss and in the same year he moved to Minnesota settling on a farm near Norwood where he lived until several years ago when he came to this place. His wife died in 1888 and six children, three sons and three daughters survive him. The sons are Fred, Gottlieb, and Carl, and the daughters are Mrs. L. Dietzel, Mrs. J. Schwirtz and Mrs. N. Bovey. The funeral was held on Monday at 12:30 and his remains laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery, Rev. Heidmann officiating. The deceased had many relatives in the vicinity who have the sympathy of their many friends in this their hour of sorrow.
