Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske ========================================================================= Arlington Enterprise Thursday 5 February 1920 Young Life Taken by Flu The sad news of the death of Martin Bening, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bening of Arlington township was received here with an intense feeling of regret by his host of relatives and acquaintances. The young man passed away Monday evening at 9:30 o’clock, in Minneapolis, after an illness of about 10 days with influenza and pneumonia. His parents were called to his bedside Saturday and were with him when he breathed his last. Martin was a student at the University Farm School where the influenza epidemic has claimed a number of other victims recently. He enrolled in that institution on Dec. 5th and was taking a course in tractor engineering when the fatal illness overcame him. He was 19 years of age on the 12th of May last. He is mourned by a grief stricken father and mother, 3 brothers and 1 sister, namely: Fred, Otto, Ernie and Mrs. John Ayer, all of this vicinity. The remains were brought here from Minneapolis Wednesday and will lay in state at the home until Friday when the funeral will take place. Services will be held at the home at 12 o’clock, and interment will be in Cemetery Arlington. Services at the local Lutheran church after the burial. The bereaved pearents and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.
