He was born on the 21st of June, 1826 in Wolltringhausen, Hessan Germany and was there joined in the holy wedlock with Maria Redeker. This marriage was blessed with 8 children, seven of them have gone before, to the Eternity and only one daughter survives the father namely, Mrs. Henry Rischmueller where Mr. Bilges has spent the last days of his life enjoying the rest and quietude. He immigrated to America in the year 1867 and settled in the neighborhood of Arlington. Ten years later, 1877, he lost his wife but was again married in 1878 to Dorothea Hahn, who died 17 years ago. After his second wife was called to rest, he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. H. Rischmueller, where he died Saturday 4:45 A.M. on the 17th day of Sept. clinging to the “Lamb of God who carried the sins of the world.” He reached the age of 84 years, 2 months and 26 days.
