Boettcher, an Old Settler, Passes Away at Her Home in This Village BOETTCHER - Augusta Boettcher, wife of Mr. Christian Boettcher, passed away at her home in this village Thursday morning, Feb. 22, at 8:30 o’clock, of heart failure, after a two weeks illness, aged 66 years, 6 months and 9 days. Mrs. Boettcher’s maiden name was Augusta Krol, and she was born in Frieshorst Regierungsbezirk, Bromberg, Germany, Aug. 13, 1845. In 1865 she immigrated with her parents to the United States and settled in Albany, N.Y., where she resided for one year, then came west and settled in Henderson, this county. Nov. 27, 1870, she was married to Mr. C. Boettcher and settled on a farm in Green Isle township, 3 miles north of Arlington. In 1896 they retired from farming and took up their residence in the Village of Arlington, where she resided at the time of her death. She was the mother of seven children, two of whom (daughters) died in infancy. The surviving children are: Wm. E. Boetcher of Green Isle two., Henry R. of Truesdale, Iowa; Mrs. R. L. Suelter of St. Paul, Emil C. Boettcher, of McClusky, N.D.; John C. Boettcher of Collins, Mont. Besides the children she leaves an aged husband, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Joel of Green Isle twp and Mrs. F. Sievert of Buffalo Lake, and twelve grandchildren to mourn her departure. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kroll, died in 1893, and her brother the late Wm. Kroll, died in Oct. 1910. The funeral took place Monday afternoon, the cortege passing from her late residence to the local M.E. church, where Rev. Brinkmann conducted services and preached an eloquent sermon, and the remains were then interred in the family plot in the Public cemetery in East Arlington. It was largely attended, showing the esteem in which the deceased was held by her friends and neighbors. All the children were present at the funeral, and also the following from abroad: R. L. Suelter, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Siewert and son, Mrs. John Sander, Buffalo Lake; and George Fink, Victoria - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CARD OF THANKS We take this means of extending friends and neighbors for their assistance and sympathy rendered us during the last illness, death and burial of our beloved wife and mother, the late Mrs. C. Boettcher. And especially to the Ladies Aid and the Choir of the M.E. Church are our thanks due. We wish to assure you all that we deeply appreciate what you have done for us in this, our hour of sadness and trouble, and your many kindnesses shall never be forgotten.
