Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske ========================================================================= Sibley County Enterprise Thursday 13 June 1895 Died John Davitt, of Green Isle township died at his home last Thursday morning, 16th [sic.] inst., aged nearly 53 years. His funeral occurred Saturday and the attendance was one of the largest that ever assembled in Green Isle, 122 vehicles following the remains to the church. Deceased occupied an enviable position in his community, and if he had an enemy in the world he was not aware of it. Every one of his neighbors feel that by his death they have suffered an irreparable loss, as he was always foremost to extend aid to them in times of sickness or business trouble. The sickness which proved fatal to Mr. Davitt attacked him about the time of last Christmas, and he had failed from that time, in spite of the efforts of the best medical attendance that could be employed. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his departure, besides a large circle of intimate friends, all of whom have they sympathy of the entire community. Besides the many neighbors and friends in the locality who attended the last sad obsequies of the deceased, there were present from abroad Mr. O’Donnell; Mrs. May, Miss Durkin and sister, all of Milwaukee; Mrs. McCormick of St. Paul, John McGran of Henderson, Julia and Mamie Winzel of St. Paul, John O’Donnell of Minneapolis, Patrick O’Donnell and daughter of Hector, and Mr. and Mrs.
