Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske --------------------------------------------------------------------- Arlington Enterprise Thursday 10 September 1903 C. DOEPKE DEAD At 11:55 Sunday evening the last sparks of life fled from the life of Christ Doepke, an old respected citizen of this community. He suffered no pain whatever for many days previous to his death and passed away very quietly. The supposed to be cancer on the side of his face had healed entirely, after the operation he had undergone at St. Louis., about a month or so before. Being too weak from the effects of the operation no doubt caused his death. The deceased was born in Hessenland, Hanover, Germany, on October 9, 1844, consequently being 58 years, 11 months and 27 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country in 1861, settling in Illinois and some years later he came to this vicinity. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Dora Wemeier. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and six children, two sons and four daughters, as follows: Henry and Louis Doepke, Mrs. Wille of Brownton, Louise, Emilie and Dora. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at one o’clock, the remains being interred in the Lutheran cemetery in West Arlington. Rev. Heidemann conducted the last sad rites. His death will be mourned by many as his kind and helpful disposition had won him many friends. The ENTERPRISE joins the many friends of the deceased in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
