Fauss, passed away at her home in this village last Wednesday evening, Oct. 4, at 8 o’clock, age 79 years , 1 month and 23 days. Anna Maria Fauss, nee Krauss, was born Aug. 11, 1832, in Igelbach, Germany. Came to America and lived with her sisters in New York and Cincinnati. Was married at the latter place, March 5, 1859, to Charles Fauss. Came to Minnesota with her husband in 1861 and located on the homestead in West Arlington. The union was blessed with seven children, 5 sons and 2 daughters. Two of the sons died in infancy. The daughters, one married to Chas. Henschke and the other to Geo. Asal, both died before their mother. The sons living are: Walter, at Logan, Wis.; Henry, at Craven, S.D.; and Charles, at Buffalo Lake. The sons, Henry and Charles, were at her bedside when she died, and remained for the funeral. Walter and his wife arrived Saturday evening thinking the funeral was to be Sunday. The message was delayed by the flood in Black river, and the rail connections were also disturbed. When the children were grown up and established their own homes, the parents retired from farm work and moved to town. Mr. Fauss, who has been confined to the house for the past seven years, was nursed devotedly by his wife, until her strength gave away about a year ago. Since then she has been sick in bed and Death came to her as a great relief. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, from the house to the church and thence to the Public cemetery. Rev. Heidmann of the Lutheran church conducted the services, and the children sang at the house and church. The pall bearers were: August Mueller, Chas. Hillemann, Herman Schulenberg, August Muhlstedt, Fred Mueller and John Meyer, Sr. Those present from abroad were: Henry Fauss and his daughter Emma, of Craven, S.D., and his son Wm. of Granite Falls, Minn.; Henry Fauss and daughter Lulu, of Buffalo Lake, Minn.; Chas. Henschke of Hutchinson, and Mrs. P. Roth of Norwood. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
