Griffin John D. Griffin, one of the pioneer settlers of this vicinity, passed away at his home in Faxon township, on Saturday, Oct. 19th, 1912, after a lingering illness. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland in 1836. He came to New York City in 1853 and lived there five years. In 1858 he moved to Minnesota and located on a farm in Faxon where he spent the remaining 54 years of his life. In 1870 he married Julia Galvin of Waverly. Deceased is survived by his wife and nine children, seven sons and two daughters, namely: John, Will, Tom, Mike, Neal and Joe, of St. Paul; James, Mrs. Dan O’Connell and Mary Griffin of Beklle Plaine.
