By his death a good citizen and true Christian has gone to his maker and his many friends mourn. he was highly respected, had always proven himself honest and upright, a kind father and husband. Carl Guetschoff was born in Germany, October 11, 1831, being nearly seventy-three years old. He came to this country in the year of 1852, settling in Illinois, living in Chicago seven years and on a farm in thatstate for the same length of time. While a resident of Chicago he was joined in marriage to Sophia Bremer in 1854. Ten children resulted from the union, two of whom have passed away some years ago, Helen and Christine. Eight children and the widow survive him. The children are Henry Guetschoff, of Wood Lake; Mrs. Paul Roehler, of Arlington; Mrs. Edward Herbst of Blakely; Mrs. Fred Boeder, Miss Lena, sons John and Chas. of this place and Herman, of Detroit, Mich. Mr. Guetschoff came to this country in 1866 settling on a farm in Arlington township where he and his family resided until 1891 when he came to this place, making his home here. His remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery north of town today (Friday), at one o’clock p.m. Rev. Aug. Hertwig will read the last sad rites. He was taken sick some months ago with dropsy and quietly passed away after much suffering. The services will be held from the Evangelical Lutheran church, of which he was a member.
