Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske --------------------------------------------------------------------- Arlington Enterprise Thursday 23 May 1907 MRS. HENSCHKE DEAD It becomes our sad duty this week to chronicle the death of one of our old and highly respected residents, Mrs. Aug. Henschke of West Arlington, who died Saturday evening at 8 o’clock. She had not been well for the last two and a half years, but nothing serious developed until a few days before her death, and everything that could be done was done to relieve her of the fate that was starring her in the eyes, but proved of no avail. Death came very suddenly as a result of heart failure. Mrs. Aug. Henschke (nee Julia Iseler) was born in Lauenburg, Province Pommern, Germany, on July 11th, 1841, and therefore she was 65 years, 10 months and 7 days of age at the time of her sudden demise. She came to the country with her parents in 1863, when 22 years old, settling in Milwaukee. She married Gottfried Papke in 1859, and their union was blessed with seven children, of whom six are living. They are Mrs. Wm. Mansfield of Bone Trail, N.Dak; L. A. Papke of Gaylord; Joe of Gibbon; Gottfried of Minneapolis; Mrs. Geo Beal of Seattle, Wash., and Frank of Stanley, N.Dak. They removed to Minnesota in 1871 and settled on a farm near Henderson. In 1880 she was married to Aug. Henschke and removed to Dryden township, settling on a farm about four miles west of this place, where they resided up to about eight years ago, when they moved to West Arlington. Three children were born to them, one being dead and two living. Those living are Ernest and John. Aug. Henschke, her second husband, preceded her to the Great Beyond on Sept. 24, 1903. She was a kind mother and her sudden death is indeed a hard blow dealt the bereaved children. It wasn't our will but it was God's that was done. The funeral was held from the house yesterday at 2 o'clock p.m. and many were those who paid her their last tribute. Interment was made in the West Arlington cemetery, Rev. Robt. Heidmann officiating at the last sad rites. The entire community joins with the bereaved relatives in this their hour of sorrow.
