Friday, Feb. 28th, Philip Hensler, an old and respected resident of Arlington, answered death’s call at the home of his son Joseph. He had been ailing for about three weeks, but his condition did not cause his children to feel alarmed, but he was receding rapidly until he fell into that sleep that knows no awakening. The cause of his death was due to old age. Philip Hensler was born in Abette, Kreis Daun, Regierung Trier, on Feb. 9, 1822, therefore he was 86 years old. He was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Moersch on Jan. 24, 1851, at Strobeich, Germany. In September 1853, they came to this country landing at Chicago, Ill., where they remained for three years. From there they moved to Sibley county, settling on a farm in Jessenland township, and it was here that his wife preceded him to the grave, about three years ago. About two years ago he and his son, Joseph and family, moved to this village. He was a kind and considerate father and neighbor, highly respected by all who knew him, and his loss is one that is not only regretted by his children, but by the whole community as well. Nine children were born to them, all of whom are living. They are: Mrs. John Meier, Peter Hensler, Mrs. Aug. Robeck, Great Falls, Mont: Henry Hensler, Wadena, Minn.; George Hensler, St. Paul; Anthony, Joseph and Mat Hensler, and Mrs. John Barth, of this place. The funeral services were held from St. Mary’s Catholic church, Saturday, Rev. Fr. Rant performing the last sad rites. The remains were taken to Henderson for interment. The community condoles with the bereaved children in their loss of a kind father.
