She had been ill for a long time with cancer and her death was therefore not unexpected. Mrs. Jaenecke was the sister of Otto Schmidt of this place, who attended the funeral, and she leaves a husband and a number of children. Obituary next week. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Arlington Enterprise Thursday 26 December 1912 Mrs. August Jaenicke Following a painful illness extending over a period of seven months, Mrs. August Jaenicke passed to that realm where suffering ceases on Saturday, December 14th. Her husband had obtained for her the best medical treatment possible, but it proved futile - there was no way of saving her life. The cause of Mrs. Jaenicke’s death was cancer. Funeral services were conducted in the Princeton German Lutheran church, by Reverend Eugene Ahl on Tuesday afternoon at 3:390 o’clock and the interment was in Oak Knoll cemetery. The obsequies were largely attended, among those present being a number of relatives from outside towns, and a profusion of flowers covered the casket. Mrs. August Jaenicke, whose maiden name was Augusta Louise Schmidt, was born in New Wendel, Germany, on March 8, 1857, and was married in Berlin on June 13, 1881. With her husband Mrs. Jaenicke came to America in 1882 and settled near Carver in Carver county, this state, where she lived three years. The family then removed to Arlington and lived there 13 years, after which they settled on a farm in Princeton township, and Mrs. Jaenicke lived there until her death. She is survived by her husband and ten children, the children being, Mrs. Chuarlua, Lombard, Ill.; Charles Jaenicke, Princeton village; Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Jr., Princeton township; Annie, Willie, Frieda, Richard, Herman, Herbert and Ella Jaenicke, who reside at home. She also leaves six brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Jaenicke was a woman well beloved by all who knew her. She was a kind and loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed and whose memory will be cherished by the dear ones she has left behind. - Princeton Union. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
