Deceased had been ailing for the past two years with cancer in his face, and all that medical skill and kind hands could do was done, but all of no avail. He was born in Luxumburg, Germany on Aug. 25,1845 and was at the time of his death, 67 years, 1 month and 3 days old. Came to America in June, 1872, and settled in Green Isle township, where he lived at the time of his death. Was married to Miss Carolina Pfenning on March 31st, 1875; they were blessed with one daughter shortly after which his wife died. Was married a second time to Maria Sophia Esser, daughter of P. W. Esser, July 18th, 1876. Deceased was the father of ten children. He leaves to mourn his departure a heart broken wife, five daughters and four sons, one brother and three grand children. One daughter passed away about four years ago. The deceased was held in the highest esteem by those who knew him. He was a kind husband and father. He was for many years a member of the St. Joseph’s Brothers of Arlington. The funeral took place from St. Mary’s Catholic church Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Rev. Fr. Rant served solemn high mass and was assisted by Fr. Wagner of New Ulm and Fr. Goergen of Fairfax. He was laid to rest in the family lot beside his first wife and daughter. The pall bearers were Wm. Moormann, John Minkiewitz, John Kemps, Richard Schwoepe, Anthony Strobel and Peter Walerius. The relatives present from abroad were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wisdorf, Joseph Wisdorf and wife, Cornelius Wisdorf, B. H. Warnecke and John C. Mitchell, all of St. Paul. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CARD OF THANKS We desire to extend our heartfelt thanks to our kind friends and neighbors who so willingly assisted us during the long illness, death and burial of our beloved husband and father.
