FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske Submitted: ========================================================================= Arlington Enterprise Thursday 28 November 1912 DEATHS Mrs. Maria Kistner Mrs. Maria Margaretta Kistner, nee Rechenberger, was born the 29th day of Sept. 1820 in Sechselbach, Wuerttemberg, emigrated to Illinois in 1855, visited with friends in Iowa over the winter and came to Sibley county in 1856, was married to J. Wendall Kistner the same year and settled down on the farm now owned by Richard Kistner. The union was blessed with five children (1 daughter and 4 sons) one of whom died in infancy. In 1895 Mr. Kistner died and she made her home with her son Richard up to the time of her departure. She was a woman of a gentle and pleasant disposition and well liked by all she came in contact with, especially the children. She had a strong constitution and enjoyed good health throughout her life. Although not sick the years were telling on her strength so that during the last two years she had to spend the most of her time in bed. For years she had been wishing and praying that the Lord might take her soul into the better life and these prayers were fulfilled on Friday, Nov. 22, in the morning at 6:30 she took her last breath. She has brought her age to 92 years, 1 month and 23 days. She leaves four children, 3 sons and 1 daughter, 24 grandchildren, and 19 great-grand-children. Martin Kistner and his sister Mrs. Margaret Eay of Stuttgart, Kansas came to attend the funeral which took place on Monday, Nov. 25, at 1 o’clock from the residence of Richard Kistner. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Lutheran cemetery [St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Arlington]. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CARD OF THANKS We take this means of extending our heartfelt thanks to the many kind friends who so generously assisted us during the last illness, death and burial of our beloved mother, the late Mrs. Kistner.
