Lichttenegger of Green Isle Township Answers Death Summons. This week it week it becomes our sad duty to chronicle the death of Mrs. Barbara Lichttenegger (nee Eallnhauser), beloved wife of Mr. Gottlieb Lichttenegger, who passed away at her home at an early hour Saturday morning, the immediate cause of her demise was cancer. The disease set in in Aug. 1906, and in Feb. she underwent an operation at Rochester in hopes that she may be relieved of the ailment, but to no avail. Mrs. Lichttenegger was born in Ischl, Austria, Nov. 12, 1840 and immigrated to this country in 1868, settling in Jessenland, Sibley county, where she resided up to 1871 when the family removed to Green Isle township, settling on a farm about three miles north of this village, where she resided up to the time of her death. On Dec. 2, 1869, she was united in marriage to Gottlieb Lichttenegger at Henderson. Her husband and six children survive her, namely: Mrs. H. Schauer, of this city; Gottlieb, of Green Isle township; Bartholomew, of Kelso; Mrs. Matt Miller, of Minneapolis; Mrs. H. Knight, of Norwood; and Mrs. Emil Wolff, of Arlington township; all of whom were at her bedside when she breathed her last. Mrs. Lichttenegger was a hard working, industrious lady, ever ready to assist and help her neighbor and friend. She was an ardent church member and her life on this earth was one of usefulness. The funeral took place on Monday, at one o’clock from the house and the remains were interred in the German Lutheran cemetery, Rev. Robt Heidmann reading the last sad rites. This office offers its sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends.
