Such was the case last week, when the time for Joseph Locher, abruptly came to an end in this world, but, only to join those who preceded him to the happy eternity. He was of a very pleasant disposition which made him an especial favorite with many friends, whether at home or away, he was always endeavoring to make everything more comfortable for others than for himself. His patience was remarkable. He was apparently in good health until a few months ago when the ailment began with Brights Disease, and he gradually grew weaker, although being under the best care obtainable until the final end came as a relief from his intense sufferings. Joseph Locher was born in Winegarten, Witinburg, Germany, in the year 1849, and therefore he was 59 years old at the time of his death. He immigrated to American when but 21 years of age, locating at Jordan, Minn., where he made his home for about four years. He then came to Sibley county settling on the farm where Mr. Proehl now lives, about two miles southwest of Arlington, where he and his family resided until nine years ago when they moved to this village. In 1875 Mr. Locher was united in marriage to Margaret Wolford, and eight children were born to them, six living and two, who have preceeded their father to the grave. The living ones are, Francis, now Mrs. Phil Janitschke, George, Frank, Anna, Hubert and Mary. Besides the children, he leaves a younger brother in Germany, and a heartbroken widow to mourn his demise. The funeral was held Monday, from St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. Fr. Rant officiating. The Enterprise joins the friends of the bereaved relatives in extending sympathy in this their hour of sorrow.
