A very sad and peculiar accident occured at the farm of Fred Miller, a few miles South of here, Saturday. Mr. Miller’s eldest boy was hauling manure and while in the act of loading the same into the sled with a fork, his younger brouther (about four years of age) ran between him and the sled, unseen by the former, who had his back turned, and just as he was about to throw a fork full on the sled the little fellow got in the way and one of the tines of the fork entered his head just above the right ear, going in about two inches. Dr. Bushey was called and did all he could for the poor little fellow, who was already partly unconscious. Later in the day, Dr. Jones of Gaylord, was summoned and they trepanned the skull the same night, but all to no avail, as the prong had entered the brain, piercing it clean to the center. The unfortunate boy lingered until Monday evening, when he quietly passed away. The accident is a great shock to the family, and they have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction. The funeral will be held today.
