She became unconscious a week before her death, and although she regained consciousness a couple of times and seemed to recognize those about her, there was no hope of her recovery and her demise was hourly expected. The great vitality of the aged patient was a surprise to the attending physician and others and there are few cases of record where a person has lingered so long under like conditions. Her death was entirely painless and was a fitting close to her long and useful career. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Eyrich of the Evang. Luth. church conducting the ceremonies, and the remains were interred in Brown cemetery. Services were held at the home and in the church and the many beautiful flower offerings showed the esteem in which deceased was held. Deceased’s maiden name was Fredericka Stiehm, and she was born in Schuetzenborg, Germany, Jan. 7, 1833, and came to America in 1851, settling at Watertown, Wis., where she was married in 1855 to John Mahr [sic.] and came to Henderson with her husband the following year. Nine children were born to them, of whom only four are living, viz: Mrs. Chas. Brown of Sauk Centre, Mrs. C. H. Laufman of Chicago, Mrs. H. W. Bosel and John J. Mohre of this place. Her husband died many years ago. [ed. note: the above was among Henderson news items.] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
