Moormann Dies After Long Illness After an illness of over a year Bernard Moormann, father of W. P. Moormann of this place died at his home in St. Paul on Thursday, Feb. 12th. He reached the age of 78 years, 1 month and 24 days. Mr. Moormann was born in Hanover, Germany, Dec. 18th, 1841, and came to Baltimore, Md. with his parents in 1848. After the death of his parents he came to Minnesota in 1858. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted in the army at Ft. Ridgely, went south and served from 1861 to 1865, in Co. B, 4th Minn. Infantry. In November, 1869, he was married to Christine Huckenpoehler and they made their home in St. Paul. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last November. Deceased was one of St. Paul’s early settlers, having resided there for 60 years, of which 35 years was spent in the grocery business. He was a loving and kindhearted husband and father, and his genial and obliging disposition won for him a large circle of friends. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Miss Katherine and Mrs. H. M. Campbell of St. Paul; two sons, B. C. Moormann of Seattle, Wash., and W. P. Moormann of Arlington; ten grand children and one sister, Mrs. C. Kirsch of Granite, Col. The funeral took place Saturday, at St. Paul, with services at the Assumption church and interment at Calgary cemetery. The Moormann family of this place were confined to their home on account of sickness and could not attend. August Huckenpoehler, brother of the widow, was with the deceased a week previous to his death and remained until after the funeral.
