Funeral was held Monday and the remains were interred in the Public cemetery east of town. Rev. Heidmann officiated. Frederick Norton was born on the 28th day of January, 1820, in Kohlenfeld, Provinz Hanover, Germany. In 1847 he left his native country for America and settled in Illinois, where he was married to Miss Sophia Bock, in 1853. This union was blessed with eleven children, eight sons and three daughters. In 1857 the family moved to Minnesota and settled on a farm in Dryden township, four miles west of Arlington. For thirty years the deceased followed the occupation of farming, when he about 24 years ago, retired from active work and made his home in the village. About four years ago circumstances made it desirable for him to live with his children. He and his wife moved to their son Conrad’s and after a short while his son Walter took them to his home and family. Here the aged parents found a home, where the aged father could live his last days in peace. On Thursday, the 28th day of March, he did not feel quite as well as usual, and wanted to rest in bed, where at noon he breathed his last, old age being the cause of his death. He leaves an aged widow, ten children, 38 grand children and 10 great grandchildren. The surviving 10 children are: Fred Norton of Arlington, Mrs. Sarah Schatz of Spokane, Wash.; Conrad Norton and August Norton of Gaylord; William Norton of California; Albert Norton of Rosabel, Minn.; Walter Norton of Dryden township; Mrs. Emily Cosgrove, St. Paul; Mrs. Emma Pautz, of Lake Prairie; and George Norton of Lewiston, Mont. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our sincere thanks to the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us during our late bereavement.
