Although his death had been expected for some time, owing to his old age and prolonged illness, the news came as a shock to his many friends. Death came Sunday morning at 2 o’clock at his home in Arlington township. It being caused by cancer of the stomach with which he had been troubled for over a year. Since April 10th however, he had been confined strictly to his bed. For the last four weeks he had been very low but through it all he has borne up well and was calm and self-possessed up to the very end. The deceased was born in Fermoye, Ireland, Dec. 23, 1822, being therefore 82 years old. He came to this country in 1845 and stayed in New York three years after which he came to Minnesota, settling in St. Paul. He was united in marriage to Margaret McNaulty in 1850. They remained in St. Paul for only a short time, after which they came to this county, which has been their permanent home ever since. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and four children, two sons and two daughters, namely, Mike and William of this place, Mrs. Henry Dapper of Craik, Can., and Mrs. Geo. Dapper. The funeral was held Tuesday at Green Isle from the Catholic church at 10:30 in the forenoon, Father Colbert officiating. The funeral was very largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends. He was an honest and upright citizen, always good natured and kindly disposed, which won for him the large number of friends he now leaves behind him, who join with us in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
