She was born on the 4th of Oct. 1887 here in Arlington, Minn., being the daughter of Theo. Streissguth and his wedded wife Katherine, nee Klinkert. Here at home she attended the Arlington public schoolup to her 13th year, after which she entered the Lutheran Ladies Seminary at Red Wing, Minn., where she was confirmed at the age of fourteen years. After her comfirmation she attended the Carleton College at Northfield, Minn., for one year and a half, and completed her education at the Winona Normal School, from which institution she was graduated in 1904. Her love of children prompted her to take up teaching, especially in the lower grades. Her first term of school she taught at Foley, Minn. The three following years she was engaged in teaching the second primary class at the Arlington school. Having served her third term she decided to become the wife of County Attorney W. F. Odell, son of W. C. Odell of Chaska, Minn. They were united in holy matrimony on the 21st of June, 1911. Although short and full of trials their married life was a happy one. Shortly after marriage Mrs. Odell had to undergo an operation for appendicitis. Hardly recovered, she was again taken seriously ill on Good Friday. After this illness she seemed to improve rapidly, but on the 12th of June she was again put to be being affected with acute Bright’s disease, which lingered along for eight and one-half weeks until her maker came and called her into his realm of glory on Sunday the 11th of August, at 9 o’clock in the morning. She leaves to mourn her death her grief stricken husband, her parents, and father-in-law, her aged grand-parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, 4 brothers-in-law, and 4 sisters-in-law. The funeral services were held at the Streissguth home on Wednesday, the 14th of Auguts, whence the remains were laid to rest in the Arlington cemetery. The services were held by Rev. M. F. Abraham of Arlington township, a quartet from Minneapolis appropriate selections. The pall bearers were her brothers, William, Otto, Theodore and Edmund Streissguth and Fred DuTolt and Wallace Taylor of Chaska. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: W. C. Odell, Misses Constance, Mabel and Ethel Odell, Ms. Klammer, Mrs. Taylor and son, Wallace, Fred DuToit, Jr., Chaska; Mr. and Mrs. Geo DuToit, Excelsior; Mr. Whitlock and family and Mr. J. Effertz, Belle Plaine; Ed. Streissguth, Mrs. C. Ross and Mrs. G. Brumder, Milwaukee; Mrs. G. Reim and Adolph Reim, New Ulm; Mrs. Ulhorn and Mrs. Sweppe, St. James; Mrs. H. Trowbridge, Portland, Ore.; Otto Streissguth, Chicago. Arlington Enterprise Thursday 15 August 1912 Locals: All business places were closed during the funeral of Mrs. Odell yesterday, which is a token of esteem that speaks more than all the eulogies that may be written of the deceased.
