Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske --------------------------------------------------------------------- Arlington Enterprise Thursday 2 October 1913 DEATHS AUGUST QUAST August Quast passed away at his home in the village, Saturday Sept 25th, at 3 p.m., after a long illness of interstitial [sic.] nephritis and Bright’s disease, aged 75 years and 6 months. Deceased was born in Eichberg, Province Posen, Germany, March 25, 1838, and came to America with his parents in 1860, settling in Sibley county. He served for 14 months in the Civil War as a member of the Fourth Regiment of Infantry. April 16, 1867 he was married to Bertha Bullert, who survives him. Fourteen children were born to them of whom twelve survive. he is also survived by one brother and three sisters and fifteen grand children. He was one of the organizers of St. Paul’s Evang. Lutheran church and was a faithful member of that congregation to the end. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the residence to the Evang. Luth. cemetery, where the interment took place, and the services were held immediately after in the church, Rev. Heidmann conducted the services. All his brothers and sisters and all the children were in attendance at the funeral. The pall bearers were: Henry Soeffker, Fred Eggers, Henry Meyer, Sr., August Muehlstedt, Richard Kistner and Wm. Young, Sr. August Quast was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, and while his death is deplored, he lived to a ripe age, and has gone to a better world, where there is eternal life.
