Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Dwight Grabitske --------------------------------------------------------------------- Arlington Enterprise Thursday 30 October 1913 DEATHS TRAGIC AFFAIR ON HIGHWAY Emil Quast succumbed at his home in New Auburn this morning from injuries inflicted upon him by a cow. The deceased is 35 years of age and is survived by a wife and threee [sic.] children. The deceased had been in the employ of W. G. Gould of htis [sic.] city during the past year. Being unable to find a house to rent he decided to remove to New Auburn where he could secure a residence. Yesterday afternoon he undertook to walk to New Auburn and lead his cow to his new home. At some point along the road the animal butted him and caused a rupture of the stomach. Notwithstanding the excruciating pain he suffered, he staggered along on his journey until he reached the porch of his residence where he collapsed. When medical attendance reached him he was partly paralyzed and speechless. Where and just how the unfortunate affair happened will never be known, for when Quast reached his home he suffered too greatly from pain and was too weak physically to talk coherently about it. The many friends of the deceased deplore the awful affair and sympathize with the sorrowing wife and family in their irreparable loss. Glencoe Enterprise. Scheer formerly of this township but now of Henderson, and is survived by his widow and three children ranging in age from 2 to 6 years, his aged mother and a number of brothers and sisters.
