The remains were shipped Monday to Castle Rock for interrment. Well Known People Join Silent Ranks. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - JOSEPH ROBERTS Joseph Roberts died at his home in Arlington Sunday, Jan. 5, at 8 a.m. He had been a sufferer of Bright’s disease for the past three years and though he did not suffer much pain he felt poorly most of the time, but still he never complained, but patiently waited for this master to call him home. He was a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by the children who survive him. He was born in New Brunswick, Canada in Sept. 1835, and therefore was 72 years and 4 mo. old at the time of his death. In 1859 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Hannah and four children blessed their marriage, two of whom are still living. She died after a few short years of married life, leaving him with three small children to care for. He was again married in July 1870, to Miss Jane B. Smith and five children blessed this union, three of whom died in their infancy. He came West in the early settlement of the country, and finally located in Minneapolis in 1880, and after residing there two years moved his family to the territory of Dakota, and so was one of th first settlers in that country. In 1894 he moved to Castle Rock, where he resided until he moved to Arlington eight years ago. His wife died at Castle Rock on July 10, 1894. He is survived by four children, namely: Chas. Roberts, of Minneapolis, W. R. Roberts of Arlington; Mrs. F. Dorman of Minneapolis; Mrs. Sadie McCormick, of Bad Axe, Michigan; also two brothers and one sister in canada [sic.]. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. A. Rabe and the remains were taken to castle [sic.] Rock on the afternoon train where the funeral was held on Tuesday and the remains interred in the Castle Rock cemetery, beside his wife.
