All that medical aid and kind and loving care could accomplish was resorted to, but of no avail, she finally surrendered her soul to her Maker. Her husband and children were constantly at her bedside and she passed away peacefully. Mrs. Wigand (nee Clara Schmidt) was a native of Bohemian, Germany, where she was born December 26th, 1842, and was 74 years, 1 month and 7 days old at the time of her death. In 1858 she immigrated to America, coming direct to Sibley County. Two years later she was united in marriage to John Wigand of Henderson Township, where she has resided continuously. Six children were born to them four of whom are living, namely: Mrs. August Otto, of Blakeley; Emil Wigand, of Arlington; Mrs. Martin Nutzmann, of St. Paul, and Albert Wigand, of Henderson township, who, together with her husband, are left to mourn her demise. She leaves one half sister, 13 grand children and 12 great grand children. Deceased was a kind and loving wife and mother and was held in high regard by a wide circle of neighbors and friends here and elsewhere, who join us in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. M. Lehmann assisted by the choir, officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in Brown's Cemetery. Among the relatives in attendance at the funeral were: Martin Nutzmann and family, Mr. And Mrs. Frank Wigand, Mrs. Louisa Nutzmann, Mrs. Stille, Mrs. Davis and Albert, Elsie and Loretta Otto, of St. Paul; Mr. And Mrs. Rubitchung, of Springfield; Arthur Wigand and Wm.
