Deceased was a victim of epilepsy ever since he was a child of eight years, and had suffered continually from that disease. All that medicine could do was done to alleviate him, and he tried every possible remedy in a vain hope to get relief, but all proved of no avail. he was also troubled with bronchitis, which troubled him considerably and no doubt hastened his death. Although so sorely afflicted, he carried his burden with great patience and Christian fortitude, until death relieved him in a merciful manner. The end came so quietly and peacefully that the watchers at his bedside were hardly aware that he had passed away. Mr. Schulenberg was born on the old homestead in Arlington township, April 5, 1867, and was therefore a little over 44 years of age. He has been a resident of this neighborhood all his life, and was well and favorably known, and did what little he could to help the family along. Twenty-one years ago he removed with his parents to the village, where he has resided with them ever since. His mother died fourteen years ago, since which time his sister Louisa has been keeping house for him and his father. He leaves besides his aged father, two brothers and five sisters, as follows: Louis Schulenberg, of Barnesville, Minn.; Fred Schulenberg, of Arlington township; Mrs. Charles Mauer, of Gaylord, Minn.; Mrs. Ignatz Riedler and Miss Louisa Schulenberg, of this village; Mrs. William Roth, of Capay, Yolo Co., California; and Mrs. Ed Spannaus, of Loveland, Colorado. All will be here for the funeral except Mrs. Roth. The funeral will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at half past one o’clock, from the residence to the Public cemetery east of town, where the remains will be interred, after which the usual services will be held at the German Lutheran church by the pastor, Rev. Heidmann. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the sorrowing relatives. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Arlington Enterprise Thursday 3 August 1911 The funeral of John Schulenberg was held Thursday afternoon.
