Ferdinand Soeffker, aged seventy-six years, passed away at eleven o’clock Saturday morning. On Saturday, July 16, at 11 o’clock a.m. occurred the death of nother of our old pioneer settlers, Ferdinand Soeffker, after a lingering illness. He was born Dec. 19th, 1827 at Zegensdorf, Hessan Cassel, Germany and wastherefore 76 years, 6 months and 27 days of age at the time of his death. He came to this country in 1854, settling first in Cook Co., Ill. In 1856 he came to Minnesota and located in Arlington township shortly after. He was married in 1860 to Louise Meyerbachtol, and nine children, four sons and five daughters were born to them, all of whom are living. They all reside in Arlington township and their names are as follows: Henry Soeffker, Ferdinand Jr., Fred and Louis, and Mrs. Chas. Weihe, Mrs. Stephen Bade, Mrs. Martin Nagel, Mrs. Wm. Nagel and Mrs. Henry Nagel. There are also thirty-six grand children and one great grand child, who are among those who survive him. Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church in Arlington township about five miles east of here, and the body was interred in the cemetery near the church, Rev. Roberts conducting the services. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends of the deceased and among those present from abroad were Rev. Meyerbachtol of Fairfax, Mrs. Ulrich of LeSueur and the Meyerbachtol family of Blakely. The deceased was an honest and upright man, and a kind father, and was highly respected by all with whom he was acquainted. We join his many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
