Spellman, one of the leading citizens of Gaylord, died at his home in that village Friday night. No one here had heard of his being ill and his sudden death was agreat surprise to all who knew him. Deceased was a native of Germany, being born in Hanover, October 2, 1835. He immigrated to this country in 1847, and int 1854 came to this state. In 1857 he came to this county and took a claim in Sibley township. During the war he served in Co. A, 11th Minnesota Volunteers. He leaves a wife and seven grown children to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon and was largely attended.
