PETER STOEFFEN DEAD She succumbs after a short illness. Death cause by lung trouble. A highly respected lady and always a kind and dutiful mother. At her home here, Mrs. Stoeffen, the wife of Peter Stoeffen, died last Saturday at 8 o’clock a.m. She had suffered with lung trouble for about a month and although her death had been feared and expected for some time, the news came as a shock to her relatives and friends. The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Riedler, was born in Ober Oestreich, Austria, May 21, 1863, being 40 years, 6 months and 16 days of age at the time of her death. She came with her parents to this country when but three years old and after a stay of a few months in Maryland, the family came to this state and settled in Sibley county of which she has been a resident ever since. On Oct. 22nd, 1890 she was united in marriage to Peter Stoeffen and during their married life she always proved a kind and loving mother as well as a good wife. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, five children (two having gone before her) Of the surviving children, four are girls and three boys. She also leaves five step-children, her mother, and four brothers, namely, Chas., Ignatious, and Frank Riedler of this place, and Gottlieb Riedler of Renville. The funeral was held Monday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Heidmann conducting the services. Rev. C. F. Koch of Belle Plaine, also delivered a funeral sermon at the grave. The body was interred in the Lutheran cemetery. Those who attended the funeral from abroad were: Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Riedler of Renville, Rev. C. F. Koch and daughter, Miss Anna, of Belle Plaine; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vandergeest, John Siem, Wm. Peters and mother of Green Isle. The bereaved husband and relatives have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their sad loss.
