D. Schuettge, 4149 Clayton St., Chicago. She was suddenly taken ill with diphtheria and only four days before she was called to the Great Beyond. Everything that medical aid and loving hearts could do was done to relieve her of the fate which stared at her, but it proved of no avail. Her sister Emma, when receiving the sad news of her sister’s serious illness on Saturday Dec. 1st, left for Chicago the same day in hopes to see her sister once more before she died, but upon arriving Sunday morning she found to her sorrow that she had passed away the day before. Martha Maria Wagner is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Wagner of Green Isle township. She was born in Green Isle township in 1882, therefore being 24 years, 10 months and 3 days of age. Before her remains were shipped to Arlington the casket was soldered into a zinc lined case and this case being in another box, and the house thoroly [sic.] fumigated in accordance with the laws of the board of health. The remains arrived Monday and were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery west of town, Rev. Robt Heidmann reading the last sad rites. The Enterprise joins the community in the condolence of the bereaved relatives and friends in their sore affliction. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
