The deceased had been ailing for some time and for the past ten weeks was confined to his bed. He rallied for a time and it was thought he would fully recover but he suffered a relapse and gradually grew weaker and finally succumbed to the inevitable. All that medical skills and the best of nursing by experienced and loving hands could do for him was resorted to but all proved to no avail, and he passed quietly away, at the age of 59 years, 8 months and 1 day. The late John Waltermann was born in Henderson Township October 9, 1857. He left home at an early age are found employment as a farm hand in different sections of the county. For the past eleven years he was employed by Louis Buck of New Rome, where he gained a host of friends. He was a hard working man, always attending strictly to his farm duties and was well liked by all who knew him for his genial personality. Two sisters survive him, Mrs. Henry Wigand of this city and Mrs. Ed. Wegge of Perham; one sister-in-law, Mrs. H. Waltermann, this city, eight nephews and four nieces. The remains were brought to this city on Monday and taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Wigand, where they laid in state until Wednesday at eleven a. m., when the funeral was held. Services were held at St. Paul's Ev. Church Rev. Buck of New Rome, who was the deceased's spiritual advisor during his illness, and Rev, M. Lehmann, the locals pastor, officiating. A large concourse of relatives and friends from New Rome and elsewhere, followed the remains to their last resting-place in Brown's cemetery. Card of Thanks.
