Sudden Death of Chas. Wigand Formerly Resided Here--and Was WELL Known, Like a thunderbolt from a clear sky came the news on Sunday afternoon that Chas. Wigand had passed away at Dr. Gray's hospital in Marshall, Minnesota Mr. Wigand has been severely ill for a few days from complications of an illness of several years duration, but his sudden death was wholly unexpected,. Mr. Wigand began to complain of feeling ill on Wednesday of last week, but -was able to do his chores about the barnyard. On Thursday a charge for the worse was noticeable, and on Saturday evening a doctor was called. Be was found to be suffering from pyorrhea, rheumatism and ulcers of the Stomach. Upon the advice of his physician he was taken to Marshall by Arthur Wigand and Mrs. Wigand on Sunday afternoon he was sitting in an armchair while the doctors were in consultation, dressed just as he had made the trip over, when death began to grip him. He was being carried to a bed just a few feet away when the end came. Within ten minutes after he had walked into the hospital without assistance. His most sudden and unexpected death is a severe blow to his devoted wife and sons who are grief-stricken over their unexpected bereavement. Charles Herman Wigand was born in Henderson, Sibley County, Minnesota, on July 25th, 1861, and would have been 62 years of age in July. He is a pioneer resident of this county, having lived here for than thirty years. He was a kind and loving husband and a good father and neighbor, and all his acquaintances held him only in the highest esteem. He was married at the German Lutheran church in Posen Township on November 18th, 1897 to Martha Rucks and three sons, all of whom are living were born to them. The sons are Harry, Herbert and Adwin; also an adopted daughter Alvina. Chas. Wigand is survived by his wife, three sons, one daughter, three sisters; Mrs. Wm. Johnke, Mrs. Frank Rubitschung of Springfield, Minn., Mrs. Richard Anklam of Arlington, Minn., and two brothers, Emil Wigand of Henderson and Arthur of Wood Lake. The funeral services were held from the German Lutheran Church in Posen on, Wednesday, 24th. The pallbearers were Wm. Timm, Sr. Nicholas Munsch, H. H. Wenholz, Wm. Weinholz and H. J. Rubitschung, of Springfield; Albert Kuehner, of Gaylord; Dick Gertijensen and wife and Chas. Dietz and wife, of Vesta and Albert Wigand, of Henderson.
