Henry Wigand, who passed away at his, home Saturday, October 12, at seven o'clock p. in., after a lingering illness, from a complication of ailments During his illness all that kind care and medical skill, could accomplish was done for him but of no avail. At times he rallied and appeared to be gaining but only for a time when another sinking spell would follow. For past few weeks he sank rapidly and finally succumbed to the inevitable. His last days were peaceful. And, surrounded by his family, he passed calmly to the great beyond. The Independent joins with the many friends of the bereaved widow and children in extending sympathy to them in their bereavement. Henry Wigand was a native of Prussia and was born in 1834 He came to this country in 1846 and, located in Wisconsin where he remained until 1854 when he came to Henderson, afterwards taking a claim In Henderson township. He married Elizabeth Waltermann who survives I him together with eight children' seven sons and a daughter, namely: Ed., Herman and Ollie, of St. Paul, of Clear Lake, Wis.; Henry, Benjamin and Mrs. Eda Foltz, of this city. The family removed to this city fourteen years ago and has resided here since. The deceased was well and favorably known in this section. All the children were at the bedside of their parent during his last days. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended. The service was read at the home, Rev. M. Lehmann of St. Paul's Ev. Church, officiating, and the remains were interred in Brown's cemetery. , The pallbearers: were. Albert Shear, Aug. Stucke, Frank Weber, Ed. Lehmann, Frank Brahs and Robert Geib. Among the relatives, not otherwise mentioned, were the following: Mrs. Ed. Wigand Mrs. Herman Wigand and children, Mrs. Louisa Nutzmann, G. Natzmann, Mrs. M. Nutzmann and daughter, Mrs. Wm. Ilert and children, of St. Paul; Mrs., Fred Otto, of Shakopee; Mr. And Mrs. Aug. Otto, of Blakeley, and Chas. And Arthur Wigand, of Wood Lake, and Mr. And Mrs. Con. Katzenmeyer, of Le Sueur.
