Deceased was born Dec. 10, 1840, in Westpreusen, Germany, and came to this country in 1866, since which time he has been a resident of this county. In 1864 he was married to Justina Streck. In 1866 he served his native country as a soldier in the German-Austrian war. In 1868 he came to America with his wife and one son. In 1896 his wife died and he married again, but not after living with her for two years, was divorced. In 1902 he married for the third time and his widow survives him, together with six children from his first wife, viz: Fred W. Winter, Martin J. Winter, Paulina Dahlke, Emilia Grack, Otla Streu and Amelia Otto. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon, interment being in the Ev. Luth cemetery of New Auburn township. Rev. Hoyer officiated and conducted the usual services at the house, church and grave. Mr. Winter was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor.
