Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Jane Hunter Hodgson THE MINNESOTA LUTHERAN MAGAZINE OBITUARY DECEMBER 24, 1951 GUSTAV SOLOMON MUNDINGER, the third son of John Solomon Mundinger and his wife, Juliana nee Abraham, was born in West Bloomfield, Wisconsin, January 1, 1869. He was brought to Christ through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in Christ Church shortly after his birth. Immediately after his confirmation he entered Concordia College, Milwaukee, Wis., in September, 1881, the year the college was founded. He was graduated in 1884, and he then entered Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Ind., from which school he was graduated in 1888. In the fall of 1888 he entered Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He was graduated in June, 1891. His first call was to Manawa, Wisconsin, where he was the first resident pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. While he was here he founded the Lutheran Church in Big Falls which he served for 10 years in addition to St. Paul's of Manawa. In the summer of 1905 he accepted a call to St. Paul's of Mt. Pelier, Wisconsin, serving this congregation and the affiliate congregation of St. John's of Luxemburg until November, 1912. Since 1912 he had been serving the Minnesota District. At first he was a representative of Bethany College of Mankato, Minnesota. He served the Church at Bertha, Minnesota from 1913-1923. From there he went to Corliss Township near Perham, MN, and served his Lord from 1923-1928. He then accepted a call to Walther Township near Belllingham, Minnesota, where he labored in the Lord from 1928-1938. He retired from the active ministry in 1938 and made his home in Sabin, MN. He fell asleep in Jesus on Monday morning, December 24,1951, at 6 a.m. Had he lived until New Year's Day he would have been 83 years. The services were conducted in Trinity Lutheran Church at Sabin. Officiating were Rev. Paul T. Schumm, Sabin; Dr. A.H. Grumm, Fargo; and Rev. Eyrich E. Hansen, Moorhead. The text upon Dr. Grumm based his sermon was Matthew 28:20b. He married Clara Behrens May 12, 1892, in St. Louis. She survives along with seven sons, Dr. Carl, Winfield, Kan.,; Rev. William, Pettibone, N.D.; Gustav, St. Hilaire, Minn.; Rev. Paul, Glencoe, Ill.; Dr. Gerhardt, Tucson, Ariz.; Rev.
