Botten After Lingering Illness Funeral Held Monday with Services In Trinity Lutheran Church After a lingering illness due to cancer, Knute K. Botten, who had been identified with the business life of Brooten for almost half a century, died Thrusday, Sept. 30, at the Glenwood Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at his late home and Trinity Lutheran church with theRev. A.H. Hoyme officiting. Business places here were closed during the funeral in deference to an associate of long standing. Pallbearers were Edwin Sanvig, Ben Grindy, Carl I. Nelson, Elmer Nelson, Ervin Olson and Kilmer Sondrol. Burial was in Trinity cemetery. Relatives and friends from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Botten, Burnice Botten, Mrs. John Begren, all of Wentworth, Wis.; Mr.s Leif Edmond, Mrs. Chas. Abel, Superior, Wis.; Albert Paaverud, Mrs. Melvin Iverson, Picket, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Braaten, Mrs. Clarence Schaefer and daughter, Veblen, S.D.; Mrs. Orville Thorson, Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Bergum, Willmar; Ben Lelte, Benson; Mrs. Harold Kalland and son, Paynesville; Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Glenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Simonson, Sedan; Olney Christianson, Terrace; Knute Paaverud, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jorgenson, Mrs. Minnie Paulson, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Olson, all of Sunburg. Knute was born in North Fork township of the parents, Knut and Kari Botten, Nov. 14, 1873. He was baptized Jan. 1, 1874 and was confirmed by Rev. Nils Gierre June 24, 1888. On July 31, 1898 he married Mary Braaten, the ceremony being performed at Belgrade by the late Rev. B.S.J. Sund. For many years Mr. Botten had been engaged in the restaurant business here. Failing health made it necessary for him to retire from business activity, however, and his strength had gradually failed him during the past year. Mr. Botten is survived by the widow, and by one brother, Halvor Botten, residing at Eckville, Alberta, Canada; also by several nephews and nieces. One brother Ole, and two sisters, Barbo and Margit, have preceded him in death. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. He had a kindly nature and his treatment of friends was generous when he was in a position to be of assistance. -------------------------
