FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Cheryl Bunde-Youngren Submitted: Sept 2005 ========================================================================= Holdingford Herald, Stearns County, MN Thursday June, 15, 1939 MICHAEL KURTZ DIES SUNDAY _______________ Has Been A Resident If Holding Township For Half Century _______________ Michael Kurtz, 90, of Holdingford died Sunday, June, 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. August Philipsek. Mr. Kurtz was born at Krutuszen, Poland, 1849. In 1889 he sailed for America with his wife and two children and settled on a farm in Holding township. He lived on the same farm until he retired in 1918. He then moved to Holdingford, where he lived 20 years. For the past 11 months he had been at the Philipsek home because of poor health. Surviving are Mrs. Kurtz, one son and three daughters: Frank Kurtz, and Mrs. August Philipsek of Avon; Mrs. Anton Dzieweczynski of Fort Ripley; and Mrs. Joseph Dzieweczynski of Waite Park. There are 25 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig's church here in Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. John Kremolocki officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers were Stanley Rudnicki, Walter Morgel, Johnny Hylla, Edward Krych, and Peter and Joe Philipsek. ========================================================================= Copyright Cheryl Bunde-Youngren 2005.
